USA soccer champion Megan Rapinoe is blasting President Donald Trump again. In a recent CNN interview, she claimed that Trump’s “Make America Great Again” message excludes certain people in America.
This comes shortly after Rapinoe made an explicit comment assuring she would not step foot in the White House under the Trump administration. In an unexpected response, Trump invited the entire team to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue even if they did not win the championship title.
"Your message is excluding people. You're excluding me, you're excluding people that look like me, you're excluding people of color, you're excluding Americans that maybe support you," Rapinoe insisted.
“We need to have a reckoning with the message that you have and what you’re saying about ‘Make America Great Again.’ I think that you’re harking back to an era that was not great for everyone,” she continued.
"We have a responsibility — every single one of us. You [Trump] have an incredible responsibility as the chief of this country to take care of every single person, and you need to do better for everyone," the co-captain added.
Conservatives and Trump supporters fought back after the soccer star’s interview aired. Many referred to her as “a disgrace” to our country given her blows to the President of the United States. Among those who criticized Rapinoe include Andrew Pollack, the father of Meadow Pollack who died in the 2018 Stoneman Douglas High School shooting, and Fox News commentator Tomi Lahren.
