Over the weekend, Pastor Dean Curry from Life Center Assembly of God in Tacoma, Washington, announced that he would be stepping down. He was dismissed from his leadership position following accusations from a former church employee.

According to the News Tribune, the 50-year-old spoke out about the situation on Sunday during a meeting called on by church leaders. Curry stood in front of a "packed auditorium" at their South Union Avenue location and said that the physical harm accusations by the woman were untrue.

He said, "My relationship with Assembly of God has been fractured. This woman accused me of behavior that would have amounted to adultery if it were true."

Curry also said that he had never been unfaithful to his wife, Anne. He did not name the woman who accused him, but simply described her as a former church employee.

He said, "I have been falsely and wrongly accused." He continued, saying that an investigation would show "no damaging phone logs, no compromising emails or text messages."

Later, Curry said that he was dismissed from his position, rather than given an opportunity to defend himself.

He said,  "Pastors come and go, and this one is going, and you have to keep doing your Jesus thing. I'm not going to allow myself to be bitter toward my accuser. I'm 50 years old and I've got a lot of living to do."

According to reports, Curry has been leading the Tacoma campus for 14 years. Now, he will have to go through an appeal with the Assembly of God's national organization in Missouri and his license is gone at least until that process is complete.

Nate Angelo, one of the members on the church board, said that they were not ready to answer questions about the case as it is still new.

He said, "We learned about this three weeks ago. We now need to gather information and facts."

Later, all of the board members got on stage to talk about the situation.

They said, "We raised concerns about the thoroughness of the investigative process. We do believe that all people, women and men, deserved to be heard."

After, board member and former NFL player Eric Boles said, "There are people who are hurting on all sides of this, and we're praying for everybody."
