A fan-favorite actor from the popular 1990s sitcom “Friends,” Matthew Perry (who played Chandler Bing on the show), recently revealed he was in the hospital for three months. The beloved “Friends” star initially sparked concern from fans when he disappeared from social media.
On Friday, Perry posted his first Tweet in nearly six months: “Three months in a hospital bed. Check.”
The 49-year-old actor was recovering from a serious surgery to treat a gastrointestinal perforation, reported USA Today. According to Medical News Today, “Gastrointestinal perforation is a painful condition that can lead to further health complications, so emergency surgery is often necessary.”
It is unclear what caused the gastrointestinal perforation.
Fans of “Friends” and others in the television industry sent in their well wishes for Perry following the news.
Perry’s health has not been up-to-par in recent days given his history with substance abuse, reported PEOPLE. Previously, Perry struggled with alcohol and Vicodin addiction, but he received treatment and became an avid spokesperson for helping other addicts.
Please keep Perry in your prayers as he continues to recover! In other trending news, Franklin Graham punched a huge hole in Nike’s controversial Kaepernick ad.
