Matthew McConaughey is not your average Hollywood actor, and it’s not just his unusual Texas accent that sets him apart. He actually broke with the liberal industry surrounding him to tell other celebrities to give President Trump a chance and to “embrace” him as president after the inauguration, according to CNN.
For his 48th birthday on Saturday, McConaughey decided to put the focus of his special day on others and celebrate the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday. And it was awesome.
According to E News, McConaughey and his cohorts surprised numerous households in the town of Lawrenceburg, Kentucky east of Lousiville on Saturday by hand-delivering them 4,500 frozen turkeys donated by Butterball. Residents were shocked to find the famous actor on their doorstep.
One of the videos of his giveaway showed a group of women screaming in surprise as the McConaughey opened their front door. The women were elated to get a group selfie with him when he joined them for a quick chat in the living room.
“Did you bring Wild Turkey?” one of the women asked, referring to the bourbon brand McConaughey is a spokesman for.
White Turkey Distillery is located near the town and partnered with Butterball to deliver the 4,500 free turkeys via 250 volunteers. McConaughey showed up to help them as a surprise.
No, the actor replied, then joked that “There’s a Wild Turkey hidden inside the turkey.”
Pursued by news cameras, McConaughey told them to stop crowding him and to film only from a distance as he visited houses.
In a speech to the turkey giveaway volunteers, the actor told them, “Thanksgiving, gratitude, we believe in our family that the more you're thankful for, the more that you show gratification, the more that you're gonna create in your life to be thankful for. I think it's kinda scientific, and here's kind of living proof of it right here this morning.”
"Let's go make some people happy and put some smiles on some faces, deliver some turkeys. There's some people that are gonna be happy to get 'em. Just keep livin'. Thanks for being here,” he added.
McConaughey and his wife Camila founded the Just Keep Livin’ Foundation to encourage high school students to live healthy, active lives. Here's his speech to the surprised Wild Turkey volunteers:
What do you think of this? In other news, tragically, one of the victims of the Texas church shooting had just beaten their battle with cancer.
