The sports world has been left grieving after one of their own has passed away. Former WWE star Matt Cappotelli has passed away.
Cappotelli's death comes after his battle with a brain tumor. He was only 38 years old.
Lindsay Cappotelli, Matt's wife, shared on Friday that her husband "went home to be with Jesus" just one year after his brain surgery.
“You think you can be prepared for this when you know it’s coming, but you just can’t. The only person whose comfort I want right now is the one who can’t give it to me," she shared in an Instagram post.
The former wrestler was diagnosed with a brain tumor about 11 years ago and was screened every year. In June of 2017, doctors discovered the tumor had grown significantly since his last screening. Matt went on to have surgery, which removed 90% of the tumor, and was then diagnosed with grade 4 Glioblastoma.
Throughout Matt's battle with cancer, he and his wife held strong to their faith in God. Lindsey shared their heartbreaking journey with social media followers and how she continued to cling to her faith during this difficult journey.
Our prayers are with his wife and family during this tragic time. Please join us in praying as well. In other recent news, an award-winning author has also recently passed away.
