Famous 57-Year-Old Actress, Singer Dies After Uphill Cancer Battle, Fans in Mourning

The sad news was just reported that Broadway actress and three-time Tony Award nominee Marin Mazzie has passed away. The beloved actress and singer died at the age of 57.

Mazzie was diagnosed with ovarian cancer three years ago and has battled with health issues ever since. She passed away on Thursday, September 13 in her Manhattan home. According to her publicist, Mazzie was surrounded by close loved ones at the time of her death.


According to Page Six, Mazzie was best known for her Broadway performances in “Ragtime,” “Passion,” and “Kiss Me, Katie.” Throughout her career, she acted in several prominent productions playing a variety of roles on Broadway and the West End.

After being diagnosed with cancer in 2015, Mazzie took some time off of performing in order to seek treatment. A year later, she returned to the stage to replace Kelli O’Hara in “The King and I.”


At the time, Mazzie said,  “It’s very emotional for me. I’m so anxious and excited and thrilled to be able to bring, in essence, a new me back to the stage with what’s gone on in my life."
