On Sunday, August 12th, a shooting occurred around 2:30 AM in the Moss Side area of Manchester, England. Shots were fired at a street party following Saturday's local Caribbean Carnival of Manchester — a popular, two-day family festival that takes place nearby in Alexandra Park.

According to reports, at least 10 people were hospitalized including two children. One man is in serious condition with wounded legs, but the other nine victims are not in serious condition, reported BBC.

Fortunately, no deaths were reported. According to the Associated Press, Chief Superintendent Wasim Chaudhry released a statement confirming that “the injuries suffered do not appear to be as serious as first believed.”

“This was a reckless act that could have had devastating consequences with families and friends losing loved ones,” the Chief added.

An investigation has been launched. The identity of the suspect was not immediately released, but he or she will allegedly be charged with 10 counts of attempted murder.

Following news of the shooting, the carnival event will continue for day two on Sunday.
