In the parking lot of a Walmart in North Carolina, a woman who was five months pregnant came out of the store to discover that a man had broken into her car and was rummaging through her purse. When she confronted him, he started to run away, purse in hand, according to Fox News.
A witness confirmed that the man – later identified as Robert Raines – had indeed broken into the SUV and was taking items from it. The purse and SUV belonged to Christine Braswell.
“When I walked out of Walmart, he had her purse and was pulling all of her stuff out,” said Blake Bennett to news station WLOS Bennett and his friend approached the man and asked what he was doing, then asked him to put the purse down.
Braswell decided to respond in her own unique way.
“He was with my purse and he took off and I took off after him,” she said. “Me being five months pregnant, I chased a little ways then come back, jumped in the car, threw it in gear and come across the curb and ran him over.”
“I was not going to let him get away with it. It’s not right, it’s not fair,” she added.
Raines was taken to the hospital and is reportedly suffering from minor injuries only. He is being charged with felony breaking and entering, larceny, and misdemeanor property damage. Braswell claimed that Rainer broke the screens of her electronic devices, including her iPad and phone.
Braswell herself is being charged with misdemeanor assault with a deadly weapon.
