On Wednesday, January 30th, the Los Angeles Police Department were searching for a 6-foot-2, 225-pound man who violently punched two women in downtown LA. Both women were taken to the hospital for treatment of concussions but have since been released.
According to ABC News, the man became violent over an extremely bizarre reason — a hot dog. The suspect was allegedly in a heated argument with the vendor at a hot dog stand before attacking the women.
"There was a man that was arguing with the vendor. At that point, one of the women said, 'Hey, order your hot dog so we can get our food,'" a representative from the local police department said.
"The man immediately turned, punched that woman in the face," she added. "That punch caused the woman to lose consciousness and she fell to the ground. At that point, her friend did try to intervene and she was punched multiple times by the suspect."
Disturbing video footage captured a glimpse of the suspect as he swung at the women. After throwing several punches, he quickly fled the scene.
Police shared the video in hopes of someone knowing the suspect’s identity. Fortunately, he was finally taken into custody Wednesday afternoon. He reportedly turned himself into authorities and was booked on a charge of assault with a deadly weapon, reported WGXA.
