A man in Idaho shared a message with his community and he never expected the amazing response he just received. Lucas McCulley is 22 years old and was born with a benign lymphangioma tumor on his face.

After having 24 surgeries before his 10th birthday, doctors told him they would not operate on the tumor until it stopped growing. The last surgery Lucas had nearly killed him when he bled out on the operating table.

Now that Lucas is older, doctors told him they would be able to operate on him once again in hopes of removing it. However, Lucas was denied disability and would be left with a costly hospital bill.

“I’m in pain from the moment I wake up and right until I go to sleep,” McCulley told KTVB. “That’s the problem, you can’t prove pain, anybody can say they are in a bunch of pain but can’t prove it. They said that my vision is fine, I’m good enough to go work in the back of a place.”

In an effort to raise some funding for his surgery, Lucas decided to create a GoFundMe page. He never expected what would happen next.

“I don’t really mind the whole being different part because everyone is different in their own way, it’s kind of a unique part of me it has made me who I am,” McCulley says. “It would still be something that is so brand new to me, and make my life a lot better in every aspect of the day, just so I don’t have to worry about it, I don’t have to wake up hurting or anything like that and just be normal,” Lucas wrote.

His original goal was to raise $20,000. Within 24 hours, the people in his community near Boise raised $42,000. However, it didn’t stop there. The goal was increased and so far he has raised over $77,000!

The story is a heart warming celebration of goodness. It shows what wonderful things can happen when complete strangers show compassion and kindness to each other. Lucas has now been contacted by national television shows and doctors. Supporters hope someone will donate services to remove his tumor for free.
