A man from Connecticut who killed his 7-month-old son has been sentenced to 70 years in Prison.

Tony Moreno threw his infant off a 90-foot-high bridge but survived the jump himself.

A judge gave the 23-year-old Tony Moreno the maximum prison time. He was convicted in February of murder and risk of injury to a minor.

"The utter depravity of the crime, a father killing his infant son, speaks for itself," Middletown Superior Court Judge Elpedio Vitale said.

Police said Moreno threw his son, Aaden, off the Arrigoni Bridge over the Connecticut River in Middletown in July 2015. He then jumped off and was seriously wounded, but survived.

Moreno had testified during his trial that he unintentionally dropped the boy and didn’t intend to harm him, but gave a different confession to the police that he threw the baby off the bridge.

Court records show that Moreno exchanged irate text messages with the infant's mother right before Moreno jumped. She frantically pleaded with him to not hurt the boy.

"Enjoy your new life without us," Moreno wrote. "He's dead. Soon I will be too."
