The Maleah Davis case, centering around a 4-year-old girl who was missing from Houston, is finally coming to an end — and it, unfortunately, is not a happy ending. After an AMBER ALERT was issued in hopes of bringing her home safely, authorities eventually arrested her 26-year-old stepfather (her mom’s boyfriend) under suspicious circumstances related to Maleah’s disappearance.
Derion Vence told police a bizarre story about Maleah getting abducted. However, evidence quickly piled up against him, leading authorities to name him as a prime suspect. He finally confessed that she was dead “by accident” on May 31st.
In addition to the ex-boyfriend’s confession, another bombshell report in the case confirmed that the attorney formally representing Maleah’s mother backed out. The lawyer admitted that he believes the mother knew where her child was. It was not immediately clear if the mom will face any charges.
Sadly, local authorities announced that a child’s remains were found later on Friday, reported ABC News. They believe it is Maleah. Blood and bones were reportedly discovered in a black bag in Arkansas. A cause of death remains unknown as of Saturday evening.
Please keep Maleah’s family in your prayers as they cope with such a difficult loss under tragic circumstances. In other recent news, updates were just released on the Virginia Beach shooting.
