A major college in America has been on lockdown after reports came of an active shooter on the campus. Security alerts sent to students at Texas Tech University said to shelter in place and that an active shooter was at large.

As the minutes passed, police have since reached out via alerts to let people know they have captured the shooter. Thus far, one person has been left dead. In a tragic turn of events, a police officer has been fatally shot.

“Officials said that a student had been brought in for a welfare check and once inside the building pulled a gun and shot the officer,” KCBD-TV reported.

The shooter has been identified as a freshman student. His name is Hollis Daniels. It is unclear as to why he opened fire on the officer.

Daniels was captured around 10:00 p.m. local time. The shooting comes just days after the massive attack in Las Vegas that left 59 people killed.

In the wake of such tragedies, calls for gun control and gun reform have swept social media. Please pray for the fallen officer and his family as they endure this dark time.

We ask for God’s comfort and peace in their lives. In other breaking news, Judge Jeanine just made a bold claim following the Las Vegas shooting.
