A major development has just been announced in connection to an illegal immigration case involving a famous entertainer. The rapper known as 21 Savage has just been released from jail.
"21 Savage, the British-born rapper who was arrested by immigration officials on Super Bowl Sunday, was granted a release on bond Tuesday afternoon after nine days in U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) custody, according to a statement from his attorney's office," according to CBS News.
21 Savage, real name She-yaa Bin Abraham-Joseph, has made a successful music career off of his lyrics and pride for Atlanta, Georgia. Now, it is being revealed that he actually came to America in 2005 and is a U.K. citizen.
"On Tuesday afternoon, 21 Savage's legal team said in a statement that the rapper had been granted release from custody on bail and was being placed into expedited deportation proceedings. Unauthorized immigrants are only eligible for release on bond if they're determined not to be a flight risk or not a danger to their community," reported CBS News.
Savage and his team believe the arrest comes as retaliation for a newly released song that discusses ICE and illegal immigration. Many outspoken Hollywood liberals have taken to social media to spread awareness about his arrest and to protest law enforcement's involvement with his immigration status.
