On Thursday, September 27, Judge Brett Kavanaugh and Dr. Christine Blasey Ford each testified before the Senate Judiciary Committee in an emotional hearing. The hearing was regarding Kavanaugh's Supreme Court nomination and Dr. Ford's accusations against Kavanaugh regarding sexual assault when the two of them were in high school.
Now, on Friday, September 28, the Senate Judiciary Committee is expected to make a vote on Kavanaugh's nomination.
According to Politico, the timeline for the process will take place as follows:
Friday: Judiciary Committee vote
Saturday: Senate procedural vote
Monday: Senate votes on cloture
Tuesday: Final vote for confirmation
According to ABC News, the committee is split between 11 GOP members and 10 Democrats. Therefore, if a Republican does not vote “yes” but rather votes “no” or “present” on Kavanaugh, the nomination will not have the endorsement of the committee.
