NBA forward LeBron James of the Cleveland Cavaliers is not only a star basketball player, but also a well-known outspoken critic of President Donald Trump. James recently spoke out against the president again, while taking a stance against racism.
According to Breitbart News, James wore black and white sneakers with the word “equality” written on them to Sunday night’s game in Washington D.C. After the game, he discussed politics.
James stated, “Obviously I’ve been very outspoken and well-spoken about the situation that’s going on at the helm here, and we’re not going to let one person [Trump] dictate us, us as Americans, how beautiful and how powerful we are as a people.”
He continued, “No matter the skin color, no matter the race, no matter who you are, I think we all have to understand that having equal rights and being able to stand for something and speak for something and keeping the conversation going.”
This wasn’t the only time the NBA star spoke out against Trump. Earlier this year in September, he criticized Trump amid the peak of the national anthem controversy and implied that people who voted for him “made a mistake.” He also called him a “bum.”
He said, “The people run this country. Not one individual — and d*** sure not him...Not one individual, no matter if it’s the president of the United States or someone in your household, can stop your dreams from becoming reality.”
