One of the common ways some Christians publicly express their faith is by getting biblically-inspired tattoos. Several celebrities, including pop star Justin Bieber and NBA player Stephen Curry, have ink with references from scripture.
36-year-old country singer LeAnn Rimes, who has released several hits since her rise to fame in the 1990s, is another celebrity who recently received a faith-inspired tattoo. However, her new body art prompted backlash among Christians.
The “How Do I Live” singer got “god’s work” printed in cursive on her forearm. Since it was all lowercase letters, her Christian fanbase took an issue with the fact that “God” was not capitalized. See an image of the tattoo below:
“God has a capital G. Sorry, just the way it is,” wrote one Instagram user.
More fans chimed in with similar remarks: "God should be capitalized” and “It's God. Not god. FYI."
However, other Christians quickly swooped to Rimes’ defense with supportive comments.
“I love it! Don't pay any mind to those who feel the need to correct what doesn't need correcting,” one fan stated. “God knows all and therefore knows your heart. You just Keep on keeping on!”
“God does not concern himself with grammar, it’s beautiful,” added another user.
