Grammy Award-Winning Musician Found Dead After Being Brutally Beaten

Some tragic news was confirmed this week out of New York. Grammy-winning artist Lawrence Leathers was found dead after being brutally beaten.

According to the Mirror, the famous jazz drummer was only 37-years-old at the time of his death. His body was discovered in a stairwell in the building of his Bronx apartment building. 

As of Wednesday, two people had been charged with assault in connection to the death. Sterling Aguilar, 28, and Lisa Harris, 41, were both arrested. ABC News reported that Lisa was his "live-in girlfriend."

According to NPR, Lawrence Lo Leathers had a "steadfast presence in the modern jazz mainstream." He inspired thousands of jazz musicians around the world. 

The musician won two Grammy Awards while backing Céciole McLorin Salvant as a part of the Aaron Diehl Trio.
