'Game of Thrones' Star Checks Into Rehab After Hit Show Comes to an End

Game of Thrones actor Kit Harington has checked into a wellness retreat. His representative confirmed the news to Buzzfeed News.

Harington's decision came in the wake of the hit series' finale. He decided this was a good time to work on his mental health.

“Kit has decided to utilize this break in his schedule as an opportunity to spend some time at a wellness retreat to work on some personal issues,” the representative said in an email.

The confirmation comes a day after Page Six reported that Harington had checked into a luxury health retreat in Connecticut a few weeks before the finale aired on May 19. According to the report, Harington has been doing cognitive behavioral therapy, meditating, and practicing other psychological exercises to better cope with stress.

He said that the focus on his character on "Game of Thrones" was a pressure that he was unprepared to face. The actor said his “darkest period” was when his character Jon Snow died and came back to life because of the intense focus on his character.

“I really didn’t like the focus of the whole show coming onto Jon,” he said. “When you become the cliffhanger of a TV show, and a TV show probably at the height of its power, the focus on you is -- terrifying.”

According to reports by AOL, Harington made the decision to enter treatment for his wife Rose Leslie. The couple, who met on the set of the show and played love interests, was married last year.

“Kit went to treatment for Rose,” a source told Us Weekly. “He was living a very unhealthy lifestyle. He was stressed all the time and using unhealthy coping tools.”

According to Page Six, he is in treatment for alcohol abuse. The source also told US Weekly that Leslie loves him very much, and she had been encouraging him to get help for some time.

We wish Kit Harington the very best, and we pray that this decision to get help will allow him to get his life under control.
