Popular Supermarket Recalls Pre-made Products Over Possible Listeria Contamination

September 28, 2017Sep 28, 2017

A popular supermarket located primarily in the mid-West issued a recall for one of their pre-made products on Wednesday, September 27th. The product has a possibility of being contaminated with Listeria, a deadly bacteria—posing a great risk to consumers.

According to the FDA’s official website, King Soopers recalled their prepackaged chicken salad sandwiches due to the possible health risk. This product is only sold at King Soopers locations in the following states: Colorado, Utah, New Mexico, and Wyoming.

Although King Soopers has removed the sandwiches from all shelves, the company is concerned that those who have already purchased the product are still at risk. Please note: If you or someone you know have this product in your home, trash it or return it to the place of purchase immediately.

If you have already consumed this product, you may need medical attention since Listeria can cause serious infections and in some cases, even become fatal. Thankfully, no illnesses or injuries have yet been reported.

This news comes shortly after multiple other products have been recalled over Listeria, specifically. This year, dozens of products have potentially been affected by this deadly bacteria including multiple products of Walmart's "Great Value" brand, Aunt Jemima's frozen breakfast products, and several other frozen foods.

According to the Washington Times, over a dozen U.S. food companies recalled products related to listeria concerns in the month of June 2017 alone. This comes as a reminder to pay attention to alerts related to your normal food purchases and be cautious about buying processed foods.

If you have any questions about this recall, you can contact their customer service line directly at 1-800-KROGERS (1-800-576-4377). Their line is open Monday through Friday 8:00 AM to midnight ET and 8:00 AM to 9:00 PM ET on weekends.

Please share this important information with friends and family who live in the mid-West and shop at King Soopers. Thank you for your help in preventing others from being affected by this dangerous recall.
