The Christian community is currently mourning the death of a beloved gospel singer who died just days ago. Kim English, who was famously known for blending gospel music with the dance genre, sadly passed away at only 47 years old.

Her funeral will take place on Thursday, April 11th at the Family Christian Center in Munster, Indiana. A cause of death was not released to the public.

“She had a unique ability both through her singing and songwriting talents to inspire people to dance and also celebrate the joys of God and religion. She was a deeply religious and devoted member of the Family Christian Center in Munster, Indiana. While she had many opportunities to travel the globe as a singer, she remained a devoted family member and member of her church, and never allowed herself to be distracted from the path she felt was right for her,” a statement from Nervous Records President Mike Nervous said.

The New York Times ran a special obituary piece on the young music star. In the article, English’s former manager revealed, “Every single one of the songs that she’s ever put out, whether people know it or not, they’re all related to God.”

One name in the music industry even described her as a “true house music icon” because of her “highly spiritualized and energetic lyrics.” He continued, “[She] will be remembered as the voice...that paved the way for female vocalists in [the] contemporary house music scene.”

Listen to one of her most popular songs below titled, “Unspeakable Joy,” below.

Kim English will be greatly missed by many! Please keep all of her loved ones in your prayers during this difficult time.
