On the anniversary of her passing, Kathie Lee Gifford honored her late mother. The talk show host's mother passed away one year ago, on September 13, at the age of 87.
Gifford, 65, remembered her mother in a touching social media post. She posted a photo of her mother, Joan Epstein, on Instagram.
“Remembering my beautiful mom today, one year after her passing,” she wrote. “So grateful that she is finally ‘home.’"
Epstein died in her sleep on Sept. 12, 2017. Gifford lost her mother a little over two years after Gifford’s husband, Frank Gifford, died in August 2015.
Gifford took both of the passings with strong Christian faith. She shared her response on the Today show the day after her mother's passing.
“Just like Frank, I believe she saw Jesus and Jesus took her breath away,” said Gifford, “And it gives me great comfort.”
She continued, “I’m just so happy for her. I remember Frank, the last year of his life saying to me, ‘I’m not afraid honey. I’m not afraid at all. In fact, I’m starting to really get curious.’"
Gifford also shared that she got her faith from her mother. Epstein appeared with her daughter on TV several times.
She said, "My mom had no fear. She had the strongest faith of anybody I’ve ever known and I’m grateful for her every day of my life, even when she was driving me crazy, because she was such a lady.”
Please offer up prayers for Gifford on this day. While she handles her loss with great grace and faith, it still must be a hard day.
