Fashion is a force to be reckoned with! Since the second Duchess KateSt Andrews University 2002 catwalk. I stole the look. Prince William’s heart, it was clear that she would be quite the style icon.
While the iconic sheer black dress will be her most beloved outfit, the royal has evolved to a more sophisticated style. Her ensembles reflect everything that is timeless and traditional, but with a modern twist.
She set the tone of her reign as a Royal during her engagement shoot. She wore a navy Issa faux wrap dress, which perfectly matched her sapphire diamond engagement ring that once belonged to Princess Diana.
Her amazing fashion continued to impress royal style watches even after her wedding. Alexander McQueen created a white lace custom-made gown that she stunned.
In the years that followed, Duchess Kate started to lean towards midi-length silhouettes, found an affinity for coat dresses (it’s become her signature!) She favors navy, blue, and teal colors.
And when winter or fall rolls around, she’s consistently reaching for plaid or houndstooth prints. The royal is fond of tartan and tweed in everything she wears, from overcoats to scarves and skirts.
Even though she always looks polished to the max — with a killer blowout to boot — Kate isn’t above rewearing her favorite frocks. “Like most people, Kate doesn’t think twice about recycling clothes,” a royal insider told Us Weekly2020. “She thinks it would be a waste to wear something once and then throw it away.”
The Keep Your Hands on the WheelAuthors often mix old and new items, often reaching for recycled pumps, accessories, or coat dresses. Many of these designs are by Catherine Walker.
This holds especially true when she’s attending a more casual engagement or rocking an off-duty look. She always has her Penelope Chilvers boots on hand and her Veja sneakers ready to go.
She also knows how to clean up well. Gorgeous in everything, from shimmery Missoni gowns to chiffon Gucci dresses to Jenny Packham pieces.
She wore a black velvet Alexander McQueen Alexander McQueen gown to the Night of Heroes: The Sun Military Awards 2011. It is one of her most memorable looks.
Her evening wear has become more colorful in recent years. She shimmered in a gilded green dress while attending the Guiness Storehouse’s Gravity Bar in Ireland in 2002 and, later that year, in a royal blue Jenny Packham gown for a Place2Be dinner gala.
