The Jussie Smollett story has captivated the nation. Many were outraged to learn of the alleged attack on the "Empire" actor.
Numerous Hollywood celebrities and famous politicians spoke out about the assault when it was first reported. Now, many are left speechless after word broke on Thursday that Smollett had been arrested and charged with staging the entire assault himself by hiring two friends to "attack" him.
Senator Kamala Harris, who is running for President of the United States in 2020, was one of the most vocal politicians to advocate for Jussie when the news was first being reported. She even went so far as to call the alleged attack a modern day lynching.
When the news came out that he had simply staged the entire thing, critics roasted Harris online. Many asked what her response would be now that it appears none of Jussie's story was even true.
Harris has now spoken out about the revelations. Sadly, she has missed the mark and failed to truly accept the hypocrisy of her words. She was so quick to condemn Brett Kavanaugh during his hearing for the Supreme Court. However, she did not give Smollett that same fairness.
"Like most of you, I've seen the reports about Jussie Smollett, and I'm sad, frustrated, and disappointed," she wrote on Twitter. She followed it by adding a photo to display more of her thoughts on the subject and to spin the entire situation into a charge for racial equality.
