Kaepernick's Lawyer Claims He Will Be Signed Within 10 Days

The Daily Caller reports that Colin Kaepernick's lawyer, Mark Geragos, claimed on Tuesday that his client should be on an NFL roster within the next 10 days.

“I think within the next 10 days somebody will sign him. I think somebody’s gonna sign him. I think the NFL has to come to their senses, and realize every day that goes by just proves the collusion case even more,” Geragos said.

The Daily Caller reports that we will have to wait to see if Geragos knows something that the rest of us do not. If he does, then perhaps it is possible that his client will soon be signed. However, they quickly note that it'll be the biggest news of the NFL season if a team decides it would be prudent to sign on the former quarterback.

Kaepernick has filed an official grievance against NFL ownership alleging a concerted effort by the 32 teams to expel him from the league. And in his grievance, he cites Trump's public call for owners to fire players who refuse to stand during the national anthem as a central factor in the owner's decision to expel Kaepernick from the field.

The former quarterback of the 49ers has been unsigned since March, far before President Trump made his remarks about firing players who refuse to stand during the anthem. Kaepernick believes that President Trump created a negative environment in which NFL owners felt compelled, against their will, to avoid public ire by refusing to sign him back.

The former quarterback is not going through the NFL Players Association, but has hired his own attorney, Mark Geragos, the man who represented several high-profile clients, ranging from singer Michael Jackson to NASCAR driver Jeremy Mayfield.

"Athletes should not be denied employment based on partisan political provocation by the Executive Branch of our government," Geragos said, according to Bleacher Report

The NFL has been criticized for national anthem protests since former 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick sat during a 2016 preseason game. Kaepernick claimed he was protesting racial injustice and police brutality. Trump has long been upset about the NFL protests, believing that they are disrespectful to both the flag and the troops.

According to another story published by the Bleacher Report, Geragos made his comments during an appearance on The Adam Carolla Show. The answer came in response to a question about Kaepernick's future.

Kaepernick has been claiming since September that he is ready right now to play and that his desire to be in the NFL will never be stopped. However, despite his ambition to go back to the NFL, no team has found it profitable to give him a contract.
