Country Singer Dies in Freak Accident at Only 35, Leaves Behind Two Young Daughters

Up-and-coming country singer Justin Carter has tragically passed away. The 35-year-old singer died from a gunshot wound in a freak accident, reported Fox

Carter was filming a music video when a gun was accidentally fired. Carters' mother Cindy McClellan told Fox News her son was filming a music video in Houston, Texas, on Saturday when a gun in his pocket "went off and caught my son in the corner of his eye."

Some reports are saying that the gun was being used as a prop in the video. The situation surrounding his death is unclear.

His mother continued, "He was a wonderful artist. He was the voice, he was the total package, and we're trying to keep his legend [alive]."

McClellan also said her husband was in the U.S. Army. However, she was unsure that if he meets the qualifications for a military burial.

"He was a wonderful person, very loving and he loved our God very much," McClellan shared. "He had a bible in his room, in the den, he had one in his truck. He gave to charities."

According to McClellan, Carter was about to embark on a 10-state tour after recently entering into a deal with Triple Threat Management.

Carter leaves behind two young daughters, Dixie and Kaylee. There is a GoFundMe set up to cover funeral costs.

"He just loved music, he was very gifted and by God, his voice was spectacular," McClellan said, adding that Carter wanted to find musical success in order to "take care of his family."

A statement was also posted on his Facebook:
