Singing sensation Justin Bieber, 24, is reportedly receiving treatment related to mental health issues. Bieber rose to worldwide fame at a very young age after being discovered on YouTube. Some of his most famous songs include “Baby,” “Sorry,” and “Love Yourself.”
PEOPLE first reported on Bieber’s treatment for depression. This news comes shortly after the young pop star opened about his former struggles with depression, Xanax, and promiscuity during an interview with Vogue.
“I started really feeling myself too much. ‘People love me, I’m the s—,’ that’s honestly what I thought. I got very arrogant and cocky. I was wearing sunglasses inside,” Bieber admitted.
“I found myself doing things that I was so ashamed of, being super-promiscuous and stuff, and I think I used Xanax because I was so ashamed,” he continued. “I got really depressed on tour.I haven’t talked about this, and I’m still processing so much stuff that I haven’t talked about. I was lonely. I needed some time.”
Bieber’s Vogue interview with now-wife Hailey Baldwin was a cover story to highlight their marriage. Although the newlyweds have just entered this different stage in their life, Bieber’s depression does not have anything to do with Hailey.
Several sources confirmed Bieber’s treatment to PEOPLE. However, Bieber has not yet released a personal statement in response to the report.
“Justin seems down and tired. He has been struggling a bit...He has good help around him and is receiving some treatment. He seems confident he will feel better soon,” one source noted.
“He’s emotional and struggles a lot with the idea of fame — being followed, having his every move stalked by fans, cameras in his face. It all sets him off and he often feels like everyone is out to get him,” another source added.
