Johnson avoids Covid fine as 100 more issued in ‘partygate’ probe

The prime minister has avoided receiving a further Covid fine after the Met issued 100 ore fines for Covid rule-breaking in its ongoing “partygate” investigation.

The Met has yet to disclose the events for which the fines were issued, but No 10 said that the prime minister and his spouse Carrie Johnson were not among those being fined.

The prime minister’s official spokesman told this afternoon’s lobby briefing: “With regards to the cabinet secretary and the prime minister, I don’t have any update.

“The position remains the same that we will update you if that were to change.”
