Fans around the country are mourning the major loss of a giant in the entertainment world. The news was confirmed that Johnny Thompson, a well-rounded entertainer, passed away at the age of 84.
Johnny Thompson, known as “The Great Tomsoni,” had a successful career that lasted for several decades. He was a performer in several different areas including magic, comedy, music, and drama.
According to Yahoo!, Thompson began his career as a musician. He played the harmonica and toured with Jerry Murad’s Harmonicats. From there, he switched gears and began focusing on comedy.
Thompson’s first major break as a comedian was when he joined Lewis and Christie for a tour. He created his infamous comedy magic act, The Great Tomsoni.
Over the next several years, his show grew to fame. He performed at several world famous venues and appeared on many talk shows.
Additionally, Thompson’s expertise served him well for other aspects of his career. The CW Network hired the magician as a consultant for six seasons of their show, “Penn and Teller: Fool Us!” He also helped with other television and film productions that incorporated magic.
Thompson was inducted into the Nevada Entertainer’s Hall of Fame in 2016, joining some of the greatest Las Vegas entertainers of all time.
