The troubling news was just reported that Oscar-nominated director John Singleton has been hospitalized. Singleton reportedly suffered a stroke.

According to initial reports, Singleton was on a flight returning from Costa Rica. When he landed, he felt “weakness in his legs” and checked into a hospital. His family member noted that the flight might have triggered the stroke.

TMZ reported that as of 2 p.m. EST, the director was in the ICU and “under great medical care.”

TMZ noted that the stroke was described as “mild,” but that doctors are doing tests and rehab on the Hollywood legend.

His family said, “We ask that privacy be given to him and our family at this time and appreciate all of the prayers that have been pouring in from his fans, friends and colleagues.”

Throughout his career, Singleton has been nominated for 2 Oscar awards. He was nominated for Best Director and Best Original Screenplay. Additionally,  he was the youngest filmmaker to get nominations in both of those categories.

Some of his creations include “The People vs. OJ Simpson: American Crime Story,” “Empire,” and “Billions.”

Several people have taken to social media to ask for prayers for Singleton. Among them was Snoop Dogg, who asked everyone to be praying.

Please keep Singleton in your prayers at this time. Little information has been given regarding his condition. Share your prayers here. In other recent news, Alex Trebek just gave a health update after being diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer.
