Republican Senator of Arizona John McCain, 81, was diagnosed with a rare form of brain cancer in 2017. Since his diagnosis went public last summer, the senator had to undergo several treatments including surgeries, chemotherapy, and even taking brief time away from his political duties.

Recently, his family revealed that he decided to discontinue cancer treatment — a step often taken during one’s cancer battle when they are preparing for their final days on earth. On Saturday, August 25th, the war hero sadly passed away.

His daughter, Meghan McCain, released the devastating news to the public on Saturday evening. She released a truly heart-wrenching statement emphasizing her family’s “sorrow” and “grief” during this difficult time.

“My father, United States Senator John Sidney McCain III, departed this life today,” Meghan announced.

“All that I am is thanks to him,” she added. “Now that he is gone, the task of my lifetime is to live up to his example, his expectations, and his love.”

McCain’s wife, Cindy, also released a statement to the public regarding the death of her husband. She is, of course, heartbroken but also feels “lucky” to have been married to such a wonderful man.

The Republican Senator would have turned 82 years old on Wednesday, August 29th. He will be greatly missed by his country.

Please pray for Senator McCain’s family during this difficult time. In other recent news, heartbreaking news was also revealed about television legend Tim Conway. Please pray for his family, as well!
