Award-Winning Film Composer, Musician Suddenly Dies at Only 48 Years Old

On Friday, February 9th, sad news emerged that an award-winning film composer and musician suddenly passed away in Berlin, Germany. Jóhann Jóhannsson, who won and was nominated for several awards with his outstanding musical work in popular international films, was only 48 years old at the time of his death.

According to CNN, his cause of death was immediately unknown.

Since 2012, he has been nominated for a number of BAFTA, Academy, and Grammy Awards.

In addition to his nominations, Jóhannsson won a Golden Globes Award in 2014 for Best Original Score in the movie “The Theory of Everything.” In 2016, he also won a World Soundtrack Award for Best Film Composer of the Year for the movie “Arrival.”

Some of his most recent musical film work includes “Sicario” (2015), “Mother!” (2017), and “Mary Magdalene” (2018).

Aside from composing music for films, he also released many solo albums, reported Deadline.

Many fans wrote tributes to the late film composer via social media.
