Joe Biden's Daughter Makes Headlines For Comment She Just Made

Joe Biden's daughter just made headlines for claiming that her father, former Vice President Joe Biden, might be running for president in 2020. Biden's daughter, Ashley, poured further fuel to the 2020 speculation by making this claim.

According to CNN, when asked in an interview if she thinks her father will be running for president, Ashley Biden remarked, "I hope so."

"Right now, his focus is on the (Biden) Foundation and Cancer Moonshot, as well as getting other Democrats elected. He's not there. He's taking it day by day after the loss of my dear beloved brother," she said according to CNN. "He'll make a decision when that time comes. A lot can happen in four years and we know this as a family. If he is in good health, knock on wood, and seeing what the landscape is at the time, yeah, I think he is considering it."

Her brother, Beau Biden, died of brain cancer in May of 2015 at the young age of 46. After Beau Biden died the former Vice President remarked that a part of his soul had died. Biden knew that after the death of his boy, he wouldn't be able to give his full energy to the country. And his family, too, wouldn't be able to give their full energy. So he sat out of the race and gave his support to Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton.

In a statement after the death of his son, the former Vice President remarked that his heart was broken, and that his family was distraught: “It is with broken hearts that Hallie, Hunter, Ashley, Jill and I announce the passing of our husband, brother and son, Beau, after he battled brain cancer with the same integrity, courage and strength he demonstrated every day of his life.”

The New York Times reports that Beau Biden's death was the second of two tragic losses for the Vice President. In 1972, Biden's wife and daughter were tragically killed in a car accident when a station wagon they were driving was hit by a tractor-trailer. Biden's son and brother, Hunter, were also a part of the crash, which occurred while they were going as a family Christmas shopping. Biden's son and brother were able to survive at the time.

Joe Biden's wife has also lent support to rumors of possible 2020 aspirations by stating that her husband "is not going away. He loves politics, he loves what he's doing, and he said he would stay involved."

The family therefore seems to be on board with their father running in 2020. But question remains: is former Vice President Joe Biden on board? It remains to be seen. In breaking news, Franklin Graham just gave an update on Hurricane Irma.
