On Thursday morning, Joe Biden appeared on CBS "This Morning" and talked about his time in the White House as Vice President of the United States. When asked about Barack Obama, the former vice president remarked that he has never in his life met a person with more integrity.
In fact, Biden remarked that of all eight presidents with whom he had worked, he had never met a president with a better character, with more integrity, or with more of a backbone. He then remarked that, unlike President Trump, Barack Obama was never haunted by scandal.
“I’ve served with eight presidents and I’ve gotten to know four of them very well. I’ve never met any president that has more character, more integrity, and more backbone than this guy does,” Biden claimed. “And eight years, not a hint — not a hint — of a scandal.”
Biden considers Obama one of his best friends, even after leaving the White House. Last month, Biden appeared on the "Today" show to share some of his favorite memories with the former president.
On Wednesday, a very touching display of unity was seen on "The View." Former Vice President Joe Biden comforted Meghan McCain after the panelist and daughter of Senator John McCain broke into tears after discussing her father's cancer diagnosis, according to The Hill.
Meghan's father was diagnosed with cancer earlier this year. Her father's cancer also happens to be the same kind that killed Biden's son, Beau Biden, in 2015. Joe Biden happened to be appearing on "The View" to promote his new memoir, "Promise Me, Dad," which focuses on his son and the personal struggles endured by the family after the cancer diagnosis.
“I couldn’t get through your book, I tried,” McCain said, beginning to tear up. “I think about Beau almost every day, and I was told that this doesn’t get easier, but that you cultivate the tools to live with this and work with this. I know that you and your family have been through a tragedy that I couldn't conceive of."
Biden then moved out of his chair and moved next to Meghan. He then revealed something fascinating: that it was Meghan's father who helped the Biden family get through their own personal tragedy.
"Your dad took care of my Beau," Biden said to Meghan as she wiped away her tears. "Your dad became friends with Beau. And Beau talked about your dad's courage, not about illness...."
Since leaving office, Joe Biden has spent a significant amount of time helping with cancer research. And as a result, Biden then took the time to mention some of the medical research breakthroughs that are currently underway. He claims that these breakthroughs should give all people reason to hope, especially if they are suffering from this particular diagnosis or know a loved one who is.
"There's a lot of hope out there," said Biden. "And if anybody can make it, it's your dad."
