Here's Why Jillian Michaels Calls Keto Diet a 'Bad Plan'

Well-known fitness trainer Jillian Michaels is sharing her thoughts on the popular ketogenic diet. Michaels has been making headlines after a recent interview where she slammed the diet, calling it a "Bad Plan. For a million reasons."

The diet, which consists of high-fat and very low-carbs, has gained traction among many people, including celebrities. According to Women's Health, the diet originally started as a way to help those who suffer from seizure disorders.

Michaels has recently spoken out against the trendy eating plan, questioning why anyone would even do it. “I don’t understand. Like, why would anyone think this is a good idea,” Michaels, 44, said.

She went on to explain how it wasn't a good idea because the restrictive plan doesn't allow the body to get the vital nutrients it needs.

“Your cells, your macromolecules, are literally made up of protein, fat, carbohydrates, nucleic acids. When you do not eat one of the three macronutrients — those three things I just mentioned — you’re starving yourselves,” she said. “Those macronutrients serve a very important purpose for your overall health and wellbeing. Each and every one of them.”

The fitness trainer encourages a balanced diet as a way to stay healthy and lose weight. She also believes that carbs are "not actually the devil."

Since speaking out against the popular eating plan, many have disagreed with Michaels and said they have had nothing but success with the keto diet.
