NPR's "All Things Considered" producer Becky Sullivan decided to put everything on the line and write the first thing that came to her mind on her final round of Jeopardy.
According to The Huffington Post, host Alex Trebek displayed an image and asked the question: "The flower pictured here is called this, also a disparaging term for people on the political left."
Sullivan answered, "What is a pansy?"
The correct answer was, "What is a bleeding heart?"But her response garnered laughing and clapping from the audience.
Trebek awarded Sullivan's opponent for his correct answer, which secured his victory, but said, "although I do like 'pansy.'"
He also commented before revealing Sullivan's answer, "I have a feeling that you may have found a way to insult liberals in this country."
Although she lost the game, she did gain conservative accolades on Twitter:
1. @i_stay_golden: Becky on jeopardy with the edgy final response taking shots at the liberals I love it.
2. @Isy30033: "what is a pansy" ON JEOPARDY I'M DYING OH MY GOODNESSSSSSS BURNNNNN
3. jackson_mueller: Tremendous final #Jeopardy answer: "Pansy". Well done Becky!
According to Fox 2 Now, Sullivan later explained her answer on Twitter, "OK here's the deal with pansy: I actually didn't know bleeding heart was a flower. I just put the only flower I knew that was also an insult. Second place still gets me two grand though. Worth it. Sean did great."
