The Bush family, and much of America, is still in mourning following the death of former first lady Barbara Bush. Mrs. Bush sadly died on Tuesday, April 17th at 92 years old.
The family recently laid her to rest as our country poured out their love and support for Barbara and her loved ones. On Friday, April 27th, Barbara’s granddaughter — Jenna Bush Hager — appeared on the TODAY show to give an update on how her family is doing.
Jenna first acknowledged how wonderful it was for her family to see how loved Barbara was. As they were driving to bury her, “the streets, the highways, were packed with people,” Jenna stated.
“It was so touching for our family to feel that love,” she added.
Jenna also gave an update on her grandfather — George HW Bush — who was married to Barbara for 73 beautiful years. Shortly after the death of his beloved spouse, Mr. Bush was hospitalized with a life-threatening blood infection.
“He’s doing well, he’s doing great,” she began. “He’s goal-oriented and he wants to get to Maine, and we think he’s going to be going there.”
“He’s sad, but he’s doing well. Last time we talked to him, he was eating barbeque!” Jenna said as she burst out into laughter.
