In recent days, the public has been mourning the tragic death of 7-year-old Jazmine Barnes. As previously reported, little Jazmine was shot while riding in the car with her family, in what police are referring to as a case of “mistaken identity.”
20-year-old Eric Black Jr. was first charged with capital murder earlier this week. Black was identified as the one driving the vehicle where the passenger shot the 7-year-old child.
The second suspect, the shooter, was also charged with capital murder on Tuesday, January 8th. He was identified to the public as 24-year-old Larry Woodruffe.
According to The Daily Beast, Woodruffe’s public defender assured “there is a lot more to the story that will soon be revealed...This is an ongoing investigation but my client maintains his innocence.”
This case update comes on the same day as Jazmine’s funeral. The community gathered in remembrance of the young girl, whose life was taken way too soon.
Please continue to pray for Jazmine’s family as they mourn the loss of their daughter. In other breaking news, multiple deaths were reported as the result of a shooting at a popular tourist hotspot.
