Jay Leno is the comedian who was formerly a host on “Tonight Show.” He has now spoken out about the Will Smith-Chris Rock controversy. He said, “This is real anger.”
Jay came forward yesterday, rehashing Will Smith’s Oscars accident and standing by Chris Rock, fellow comedian.
After the Academy Awards, Chris was slapped with a lot of helot romps. The comedy community rallied around Chris. Will offered a public apology, and The Academy has handed down its punishment (it will still be 10 years before the Oscar-winning actor is allowed to attend any events).
Chris has not yet made any formal statements about the incident, but he has touched upon the topic during his shows.
Jay Leno addresses the controversy during a interview with the Palm Beach Daily News. While the chaos surrounding this altercation is starting to dissipate.
Jay was present at the Oscars on that night.
“To me the thing that was most disturbing was not the slap. Because he was kinda smirking after the slap.” [Rock]Leno said, “Yes.” Leno added that the former Tonight Show host said, “It was just the shouting of obscenities.” Then you say, “Whoa!” What’s the deal? This is real anger.”
Leno also criticised The Academy’s response when they stated that they would investigate the incident.
“What are you investigating?” Leno said. “It had got to be the most documented assault in history. I saw Chris’s ear, and I saw his shoe back. This incident was captured by so many cameras. What are you investigating? Sometimes things are not what they seem.”
