On Thursday, September 6th a powerful 6.6-magnitude earthquake rocked the island of Hokkaido, Japan. At least 7 people were killed and more than 150 others were injured as a result of the earthquake.
According to CNN, the earthquake also caused massive landslides burying several homes and completely destroying a number of properties. Additionally, millions of households were left without power.
It’s possible that the death and injury toll will continue to rise. Local authorities are reportedly still searching for dozens of missing persons.

On the same day several hours later, a 7.8-magnitude earthquake rocked a surrounding region near the Fiji islands. No deaths or injuries were immediately reported.
