On Tuesday, June 26th, news broke that a dead body was discovered at the home of NFL star Janoris Jenkins. Jenkins, 29, started his professional football career with the St. Louis Rams in 2012, but currently plays as a cornerback for the New York Giants.
As previously reported, the body was found in the basement of Jenkins’ luxury, six-bedroom, New Jersey house by one of his employees. At the time of the unsettling discovery, Jenkins was out of town in Florida but he was notified of the situation.
Now, new and startling details have emerged about the case. Both the body and a person of interest have been identified.
According to the New York Post, the body was identified as 25-year-old Roosevelt Rene — a music producer whose stage name was “Trypps Beatz.” He was reportedly a family friend of Jenkins.
His death is being investigated as a homicide and was described as “highly suspicious.” Although the official cause of death was not immediately released, police stated it is a possible strangulation/suffocation incident.
Jenkins’ older brother, 34-year-old William Jenkins, was also confirmed to be a person of interest, reported TMZ. Authorities emphasized that he is not a suspect, but police do have reason to believe he may have information regarding Rene’s unexpected death.
Roughly nine hours before Rene’s body was found, William was arrested in upstate New York on unrelated charges. He allegedly was taken into custody regarding a parole warrant issue.
