Janet Jackson Denies Having Secret Baby With Ex-Husband James DeBarge In ‘80s: ‘I could never do that, That’s not right’
“I could never keep a child away from James. How could I keep a father from his child? That’s impossible. That’s not right.”
“A lot of the kids thought I was pregnant ’cause I had gained weight and I had started taking birth control pills. And back then, you could pick up weight taking them, and that’s what happened to me, so that rumor started going around.”
Debbie AllenLydia Grant, who starred in the TV series, also remembers being shocked at the pregnancy rumors. Allen said,
“These were rumors that were just flying around, honey, like hash in a diner. Where was the baby, honey? Nobody ever saw a baby. She was always there for us, every day. Where was the baby?”

Janet Jackson James DeBargeShe was just 18 years old when she married her husband in September 1984. The couple’s marriage was short-lived, ending in an annulment in November 1985. According to Janet, the main reason the marriage ended was because of DeBarge’s drug use.
