In recent days, our nation was widely divided on how to solve the problem of immigrant families being separated at the border. On Wednesday, America took a major step forward when President Trump signed an executive order to keep undocumented families together.
Despite the mainstream media’s efforts to blame Trump for the separation fiasco, Trump has consistently pushed for Democrats and Republicans to come together on immigration reform. Our administration’s goal is not to separate undocumented families, but to protect America from undocumented criminals with higher border security.
Ivanka Trump, an avid advocate for women and children, did not release an official statement to the public regarding the controversy. Because of this, she faced major backlash for “staying silent.”
However, Ivanka broke her silence on Wednesday after her father officially signed the executive order. Ivanka praised Trump’s bold move and, additionally, urged Congress to do their part.
“Thank you [President Trump] for taking critical action ending family separation at our border. Congress must now act + find a lasting solution that is consistent with our shared values; the same values that so many come here seeking as they endeavor to create a better life for their families,” Ivanka wrote on Twitter.
