According to RT, ISIS fighters are battling government forces as the Islamic State attempts to take control of the city of 200,000.

The action has led Philippines President Rodrigo Duterte to declare a 60-day period of martial law on the island.

At least one hospital in the city is allegedly flying an ISIS flag, and doctors inside have reportedly been taken hostage, according to the UK’s Metro. A college and jail appear to be on fire as well.

“I’m appealing to residents of Marawi City to stay home, drop on the ground if they hear gunshots," said provincial governor Mamintal Adiong Jr., according to the UK’s The Independent.

Battles with ISIS militants has been ongoing in the area, but there was no warning that they would try to take over the city Tuesday.

Please pray that the Philippines can defeat the threat of ISIS and keep its influence from spreading in that part of the world.
