Last month, Anne Graham Lotz revealed some sad news. After being diagnosed with breast cancer and receiving surgery and chemotherapy, she revealed that the extreme side effects she is experiencing may be an indication that she needs to stop treatment.
People around the nation have been praying for Anne throughout her treatment process. Now, she has opened up about the question: "Why did I come down with cancer?" She wrote a letter, explaining something important that her eyes have been opened up to during this process.
Anne wrote, "At 70 years of age, why did I come down with cancer? My cancer is potentially fatal. It struck swiftly and unexpectedly. It required immediate, prompt, drastic surgery and follow-up treatments that include chemotherapy and radiation. Through our prayers and God's answers, I believe I will be victorious over it. But the word of the Lord has come to me, 'Anne, what do you see?"'
She answered, "And this is the message God has placed on my heart for you and me, for God's people. It's time, once again, to Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: "May they prosper who love you! Peace be within your walls and security within your towers!" (Ps. 122:6-7)."
She asked, "Could it be there is more to my cancer at the age of 70 than just a random coincidence?" Additionally, she mentioned that both she and Israel are 70 years old, after "Israel's rebirth."
Then, Anne shared a long prayer over Jerusalem and asked everyone to agree with her.
Following the release of her letter, many people on the Internet began mocking Anne for her beliefs. Many people have mocked the fact that Anne believes her diagnoses holds more significance than meets the eye.
Others defended Anne, saying that she was showing "confident faith" and that we definitely do need to praying for Israel during this time.
