Her hips might not lie, but her taxes did.
Columbian singer Shakira is under investigation for tax evasion. The Spanish tax authorities are allegedly looking into her for not paying income tax on her global income from 2012 to 2014, reported People.
Shakira is married to Spanish soccer player Gerard Pique. The couple, who have two sons, Milan, 5, and Sasha, 2, currently live in Barcelona.
Shakira reported moving to the Spanish city in 2015 for her family. Authorities contend that she's actually lived there since 2012.
It's been a rough had couple of months for the pop star. She had to postpone her El Dorado world tour until June due to a vocal cord injury she sustained during rehearsals in October 2017.
Several media outlets have reported that Shakira hired auditing firm PwC for the investigation. A spokesperson for the company refused to confirm any details of the case. However, Shakira's lawyer reportedly told the Spanish media that “throughout [Shakira’s] professional career and, in every case, has fully met the laws of all the jurisdictions where she has resided.”
The 40-year-old hasn’t made any comments about the allegations. Instead, she's focusing on her upcoming tour, which scheduled to kick off in June in Germany.
Shakira said about her health problem: “I hope to overcome this difficult trial and to return to the stage as soon as possible to once again hear your voices singing along with mine."
