An Idaho woman is being investigated in relation to the murder of Colorado mother Kelsey Berreth. Berreth's fiancé, Patrick Frazee, has been charged in her murder.
Berreth was last seen on Thanksgiving Day. A few days later, her cell phone pinged in Idaho, and a text was sent to her work telling them that she wouldn't be in for several days.
Now sources are telling CBS News that officials are investigating an Idaho woman for her possible role in Kelsey Berreth's disappearance. While Frazee is being charged with murder, Berreth's body has not been found.
CBS declined to release the name of the woman as police have not charged her. However, they did say she is a 32-year-old nurse from Twin Falls, Idaho.
Police believe the unnamed woman may have helped Frazee cover up the alleged murder by disposing of Berreth's cell phone. Details of their relationship are unclear, but they reportedly knew each other for years, noted CBS.
Investigators believe that Frazee killed the 29-year-old mother of his one-year-old daughter, Kaylee. They think the murder happened around Thanksgiving Day in her Colorado home. While Berreth and Frazee had a child together, they did not live together.
Berreth was last seen on store surveillance video with their baby the day she vanished. Kaylee was with Frazee after her mother disappeared. Three days later, police say Berreth's cell phone pinged nearly 600 miles away in Gooding, Idaho. Several texts were sent include the aforementioned one to work and one to Frazee.
District Attorney Dan May said investigators do not believe Frazee acted alone. He's charged with five counts, including two counts of first-degree murder.
"We filed under two theories, one is deliberation murder and the other is felony murder … we also have three separate counts of solicitation," May said.
There is also a court battle over who will have custody of Kaylee. Frazee's mother is fighting Berreth's parents for custody of the young girl.
Berreth's parents have temporary parental rights. They are caring for Kaylee at their Idaho home.
Please pray for safety for Kaylee and justice for Kelsey. This is such a sad case.
