Investigators have just solved a murder from 1996. However, their findings were shocking. They are able to find the man responsible but in doing so it was found that another man had served 20 years behind bars for a crime he didn't commit.

According to reports, Brian Leigh Dripps Sr., 53, was arrested Wednesday on a first-degree murder charge for the June 1996 rape and murder of 18-year-old Angie Dodge, the Idaho Falls Police Department said at a press conference Thursday.

Police were able to use genetic genealogy to link Dripps to the murder. Now, investigators are saying Dripps has also confessed to the crime. At the time, Dripps was living across the street from his victim.

"Christopher Tapp was arrested and convicted in the case, but his attorney’s claimed that police coerced a confession from him, the Idaho Statesman reported. He spent 20 years in prison before his rape conviction was overturned with the help of the Idaho Innocence Project. The murder conviction was never overturned, despite his release," reported Fox.

The case is getting national attention. At this time, police are still putting together all the details. The family of the victim says the entire ordeal has been extremely emotional.

Please join us in praying for the family members of the woman who was murdered all those years ago. We pray they are comforted by the love of our Lord and we also pray they may grow in faith with Him.
