The highly-anticipated Hurricane Florence finally made landfall early Friday morning, September 14th. After degrading to a Category 1 storm, Florence struck near Wrightsville Beach, North Carolina.
The hurricane stormed nearby areas throughout the Carolinas with life-threatening weather conditions including heavy rain and powerful winds. Hundreds of thousands of people were left without power; other residents sadly lost their own lives.
Over the weekend, news broke that the Florence death toll climbed dramatically. According to NBC News, 7 people have been reported dead as of 2:45 PM ET on Saturday.
Among the seven victims include a family of three — a mother, a father, and an infant child. A tree fell on top of their home as a result of the storm, leaving them trapped and unable to survive the storm conditions.
Other victims include a woman from North Carolina, two elderly North Carolina men, and another woman from South Carolina. Unfortunately, the death toll is expected to rise even higher over the next few days.
Please pray for the victims’ families and all of those impacted by Hurricane Florence. May God be with them during this difficult time.
