For the past several days, the East Coast has been anticipating the catastrophic arrival of Hurricane Florence. The dangerous and powerful storm, which was a Category 4 hurricane at one point, finally made landfall on the East Coast early Friday morning.
As previously reported, President Trump warned that the hurricane would likely be more harmful than initially expected. He, along with many other U.S. leaders, urged residents to “get out” and take the necessary precautions instructed by local officials.
According to reports, Florence only struck land as a Category 1 hurricane — rapidly decreasing intensity before hitting near Wrightsville Beach, North Carolina.
However, authorities warned that just because the storm decreased to a Category 1, it does not mean the effects can’t still be damaging. Florence dragged in 90+ mph winds and still poses life-threatening storm surges.
